My name is Claire Ravenscroft, and I am a psychotherapist with a private practice in South East London. I specialise in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy.
What is Integrative Arts Psychotherapy?
I consider myself as an integrative psychotherapist in three main ways: integrating therapies (including Gestalt, Jungian Theory and Transactional Analysis), integrating the arts (access to materials including: sand tray and objects, movement and sound, bodywork, paints, clay and oil pastels) and seeking an integration of self for my clients and for myself.
I have found that through the use of the arts in psychotherapy, we are able to express difficult emotions in a creative, safe and profound way, exploring new and imaginative ways of uncovering conscious and unconscious parts of ourselves, which can lead to a great insight and growth.
Why Art/Drama/Movement Psychotherapy?
I believe integrative art psychotherapy can not only help to explore and heal many specific problems or crises in our lives, but it can also contribute to a sense of life as more fulfilling and meaningful. In my sessions I encourage the use of imagination and metaphor and the arts can be used when appropriate. I have an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy from the Institute of Arts in Therapy and Education. I am also registered with the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and I have been in private practice for over eight years. I am fully insured and abide by the UKCP ethical framework.
